Project Scope
Recent events have elevated cybersecurity to a top risk. The SOCCER project answers the EU’a call for Capacity building of Security Operation Centres and unites cyber and technology experts from Germany, France, Hungary, and Romania.
Recent events such as global pandemic, geopolitical tensions and introduction of new internet technologies have contributed to bring cybersecurity up to the second most important risk. The project "Security Operation Centres Capacity building for European Resilience - SOCCER", established to answer the European call DIGITAL-ECCC-2022-CYBER-03-SOC - Capacity building of Security Operation Centres (SOCs) - brings together a consortium of cyber and technology experts from Germany, France, Hungary, and Romania. Over the period of 36 months our proposal seeks to:
- develop and implement cutting-edge technologies for secure access to data (Security Hub) and the sharing of threat intelligence signals (TIS) across European entities, allowing for reinforced capacities to monitor and detect cyber threats.
- interconnect and strengthen advanced Security Operation Centres (SOCs) ecosystems in Germany, Hungary and Romania, with the goal of enhancing cyber security resilience at both the national and EU levels.
The use of state-of-the-art AI, machine learning capabilities and investment in common infrastructures will make it possible to share and correlate threat intelligence signals more efficiently and more rapidly. By focusing on cybersecurity upskilling, sharing of best practices and developing a European wide, human centred AI-solution, the Consortium will build capacities to guarantee trustworthiness and technological sovereignty. Both pillars providing a worldwide competitive advantage.
The consortium approach aligns with european cybersecurity strategies and the following member states’ standards: NIS Directive, the Cybersecurity Act, the Regulation on the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) and the Network of National Coordination Centres, Joint Cybersecurity Unit, German IT Security Act 2.0, German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and its Regulation on critical infrastructures (KRITIS), GDPR and ISO standards.
